WHAT WIG DENSITY SHOULD YOU GET?

When looking for a right wig, you are probably seeking for the most natural-looking wig that matches your hairline and face. There are different aspects that contribute to your perfect wig like human hair, natural hairline, baby hair, wig density, etc. One of the most important things you need to know before getting a right wig is wig density because it affects your decisions. Let’s follow this article, Anvihair will share with you everything about wig density and how to choose the best wig density suitable for you.

1. What is wig density?

Wig density is presented as a percentage that indicates how much hair is on your wig but does not include the texture. The higher the proportion of density, the fuller it will appear; the lower the percentage of density, the thinner it will appear. The percentages of density range from exceptionally light (about 60%) to very heavy (around 250%).

That is not a problem with thick or thin hair. Do not get this confused with hair thickness. Hair thickness differs because it only considers the breadth of the hair rather than the quantity. If you have thick hair, you may have highly dense hair, however someone with thin hair might also have a lot of individual strands and have dense hair.

2. Wig density chart

To help you know how to choose wig density. Wig density ranges from 60% to 200%. Another way wig density is classified by low density hair wig, medium density and high density hair wigs.

Wig density chart
  • 60% – 90% (Extra light hair density wig): is classified as the lower density offered. These wigs are extra light.
  • 100% – 110% (Light hair density wig): is classified as very lightweight as well there aren’t generally seen on the market

In general, they are expressed in three different levels above:

  • Lower density wig (60% to 90%): these wig are for individual who  have thinner hair
  • Medium density wig (130% to 180%): these wigs often have more volume than the lower density wigs, but it is not an overwhelming amount.
  • Higher Density Wigs (190%-250%): This wig offers you complete fullness and volume. Most celebs and influencers have this density wig.

3. Density recommendations based on the hair length

Wig densities seem to vary depending on hair length. While you should make your own selection, here are our density recommendations depending on wig hair length.

  • Short Wigs (12″-16″): We recommend 120%-180% density with the length of your wig, and your hairdo should not be too thick. It is up to you to decide how full you want your style to be between those figures.
  • Medium Length Wigs (18″-22″): Longer wigs should have a greater density to give you more volume and fullness; we recommend densities between 190%-200%.
  • Long Length Wigs (24′-30″): We recommend 250% density for this length. This density will ensure that your hair is thick and voluminous from root to tip.

4. How to choose the right wig density?

Choosing the ideal density involves considering several things including your favorite hairstyles, length preference and others. Going on reading, these things below should be considered carefully before making a decision on how to select wig density.

  • Your preference hairstyle and length

When shopping for a new wig, consider if the hair will be short, long, curly, or wavy. Different textures and lengths can influence how your wig appears. Long straight hair looks great with high-density wigs. Low-density wigs are appropriate for short haircuts and coarse-textured wigs.

  • Natural hair density

If you generally wear your hair out and want your wig to appear exactly like your own hair, pick a density that is close to your actual density. For example, if your natural hair is grown and thin, you should select a wig density in the 130% to 150% range. If your natural hair is exceptionally thick and voluminous, however, a higher density wig (180- 250%) will give you the most natural look.

  • Your lifestyle

One of the most crucial factors to consider while selecting wig density is your lifestyle. If you sweat a lot or frequently participate in strenuous physical exercise, a lower density wig will keep you cooler. A high-density wig, on the other hand, will give you the fullness you need to turn heads on date night for ladies.

  • Your age

When deciding on a density level for your wig, keep your age in mind. Our hair naturally thins down as we age. If you want a more realistic look and are above the age of 50, you may consider a lower density wig.

  • Hair textures

Consider the texture of your ideal wig when deciding on the density. Curly textures, for example, offer the sense of fullness, so you may not require as much density with a curly wig. Straight wigs tend to seem thinner, so a greater density is frequently the best choice.

  • Materials matter

Wigs with the same density level can appear very different depending on the hair quality and materials utilized. We recommend that you use wigs made of 100% virgin or Remy human hair for the greatest overall look.

5. How do you care for each density?

You should follow the right precautions for all wigs to prevent shedding and extend the longevity of your wig. This may be accomplished by gently caring for your wig, avoiding harsh products, and brushing lightly.

  • Low-density wigs: These wigs must be kept clean. The hair will be weighted down if there is product buildup or heavy products on the wig. Always use light products; a little goes a long way. If you need volume, consider applying products that add volume to your hair.
  • Medium-density wigs: are the simplest to care for since they mirror your real hair. Wash your wig on a regular basis with wig-specific shampoo and conditioner. Use things that have some weight
  • High-density wigs: When washing these wigs, be sure to properly clean them. This may be a difficult process because of the volume of hair. In addition, this wig takes a little extra product to keep the hair and flyaways in place.

In our opinion, wig density is one of the most important characteristics of your wig. High-density wigs are incredibly popular because they create a full, voluminous head of hair, whilst low-density wigs provide a minimalistic wig experience.
